What a fantastic weekend!! When you're as tired as I am on a Monday morning, you know that the weekend was jam-packed with great stuff!
Friday night, I picked up Chris at the airport and we went to one of our regular spots for dinner - Not Your Average Joes. After eating a few too many pieces of bread, I had my usual fish for dinner and swapped out the potatoes for more veggies. Hey - I just ate two big chunks of bread, do I really need more carbs? Probably not!
After dinner, we headed home and exchanged Christmas gifts. Chris got me a few things for the kitchen which I'd wanted to buy, but felt that I didn't want to spend the money on (they're a bit frivolous). He also gave me the warmest, softest fleece jacket ever! I'm head over heels for it!! It's the perfect shade of magenta, the sleeves and body are long enough, and ahhh it's just so comfortable! His big present from me was a giant television that he's thrilled with. It was so funny to see him so excited about it, I loved it, absolutely loved it!
Saturday morning, I went to the first group run for the 2011 Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge Team. It was terrific! SO many new faces - many people who are brand new to the marathon as a whole, or just new to Dana-Farber. Loved it! We actually ran on trails, which was a great change of pace, as I've been sticking to the roads lately. I'm definitely planning to head back there for a jaunt myself! Maybe over the holidays, when I've got time off!
Saturday night was the annual Somerville Arts Council Illuminations Tour. Wow, it was fantastic! Our good friend Sarah hosts dinner before the tour, and then we headed out in the cold to catch the trollies for the tour. Check out some of the houses here. After the tour, we usually go back to Sarah's for dessert, more wine, and more fun, but we were exhausted, so we went home.
Sunday morning, Dawn and I ran 11 miles on our favorite new loop: HILLS! This loop is about 2 miles from her house. It's about a 5 mile loops that has three big hills in it, each hill takes at least 5 minutes to huff-and-puff my way up. (Dawn's faster... she's only 4 minutes or less!) Our goal race is the Boston Prep 16-Miler, so hills are a must for training! That race is brutal! Sunday's 11 miles felt fantastic! A few more of those, and I'm sure the race will be a breeze! (Well, maybe not a breeze, but I'll at least survive it!)
The rest of Sunday was spent on the couch with my books. I can't believe another semester has come and gone! I finished my psychology class, and I'm handing in my Anatomy & Physiology II final tomorrow! Wow!!
And now... I suppose I should work!
